About

I'm Lei Xu. I'm the co-founder of Workstream, where we build hiring and onboarding software for hourly workers — the 80 million people in the US who work in restaurants, healthcare, retail, and logistics.

Before Workstream, I was at Google, where I built recommendation systems for the sales organization. Before that, I was a management consultant at ZS Associates working with Fortune 500 companies. I studied at UC Berkeley.

In 2016, I co-founded an edtech company called Emote through Y Combinator (S16). That experience — building something from zero, learning what works and what doesn't — shaped how I think about startups and product development.

I'm interested in how software changes the way people work, especially for the workers who've been overlooked by the tech industry. I think a lot about small teams, AI, and what the next generation of tools will look like.

Outside of work, I'm a private pilot, a casual runner and hiker, and I like to cook. I live in the Bay Area.
